Cauliflower Steak

Homemade Beef Burger Patty on a grill

For the Cauliflower Steaks:

  • 1 head cauliflower
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Roast Yellow Pepper & Pineapple Hot Sauce
  • BBQ Spice

For the Red Pepper-Walnut Sauce:

  • 2 red peppers
  • 2 Tablespoons of Roast red pepper and sundried tomato hot sauce
  • 2 garlic clove
  • 2 tablespoons walnuts
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons rice wine vinegar
  • Half a teaspoon of basil
  • Salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • Roughly chopped coriander
  • Sesame seeds

1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees C. Cut two 4 to 5cm steaks from the middle of the head of the cauliflower. Cut away the leaves of the cauliflower stems. Sprinkle a healthy dose of BBQ spice over the steaks.
2. In a large pan, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add cauliflower steaks and cook for 5 minutes or until very brown. Flip cauliflower steaks and cook them for a further 2 minutes, then move the pan to the oven. Bake for 10 minutes.
3. Red Pepper and Walnut Sauce: Place all ingredients in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. Then heat it up in a saucepan until it is warm but not hot.
4. Pour the sauce onto a plate and sprinkle over the roughly chopped coriander.
5. Lay the cauliflower steaks over the top of the sauce, put a healthy dollop of Roast Yellow Pepper & Pineapple Hot Sauce in the centre of the steak.
6. Roast off the sesame seeds in a dry pan and sprinkle over the top for some extra crunch.
