Mississippi Pot Roast

Homemade Beef Burger Patty on a grill



  • A beef roast
  • A jar of Sweet Pepper and Chilli Sauce
  • Pepperoncini peppers (or the pepper or large chilli of your choice)
  • A packet of brown gravy mix
  • A packet of dry Italian salad mix
  • 4 potatoes unpeeled but washed
  • 500ml of water
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh Coriander
  • Plain yogurt

Add the beef roast, the potatoes, the jar of Sweet Pepper and Chilli Sauce, the Pepperoncini peppers, a packet of dry Italian salad dressing mix, a packet of brown gravy mix, some salt and pepper and 250ml of water into a crockpot / pressure cooker or slow cooker and let it cook.

If you are using a crock pot or a slow cooker then you may need to add more water to keep it moist.

When the beef is soft enough to be pulled apart the pot is done. Pull the beef into chunks using two forks and tear up the potatoes into manageable pieces.

When dishing up, put a spoonful of plain yogurt over the top of each dish and sprinkle some roughly chopped fresh coriander to finish.
